The Enrichment Programs have been developed to enhance subjects which were already taught by the teachers in your school. The teachers will enjoy watching as the children have a chance to show their acquired knowledge. It is a win situation for both students and teachers. Visual Art, History and Sociology are combined to bring each subject to life. Doubling the Enrichment Program with
history or literature can be an amazing way for students to gain a new perspective and insight.
Ms. Urman is offering a series comprising of a lecture/ presentation, trips to museums or other sites, plus follow up visits to instruct an art lesson. She will customize her programs to a one time visit or any combination of the series you desire. She or an instructor from Art for Learning LLC., may act as Docent at some sites. When we are not acting as Docent Ms. Urman will be working with the educational departments to customize the trips for your students. She has already worked with several Museums to incorporate her programs into their offerings. Most of the Art tours will visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Other Museums which may be visited according to the subject are the Guggenheim Museum, New York Historical Society, The Cloisters, Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Museum of Arts and Design, Museum of Natural History and other various museums which may have special exhibitions.
Art lessons can also be included into your series, you have the option to choose a simple art lesson or a more advanced one. A simple art lesson would take one hour to complete, a more advanced art lesson would require several art instructional lessons to complete.
Most programs are introduced through a slide show lecture and presentation. Sometimes props or posters are used to engage students. Ms. Urman has a very interactive style to her teaching, she asks questions and welcomes comments about the art or subjects which are presented. Teachers have often remarked about the participation level of students who are usually quite. Keeping the class size small is best, it allows ideas to be shared in an open minded atmosphere where all comments and opinions are valid.
It is not necessary to take one Level prior to the other. Every program is introduced as though it is their first experience with the material. You choose the Enrichment components which will reinforce your curriculum giving your students the optimum exposure to their subjects.
Ms. Urman takes particular pride with her creation of the lecture for The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, where she speaks of her detective work (research) to find many items mentioned in the book. She introduces the children to the Renaissance period. Ms. Urman has also organized an accompanying trip to the Metropolitan Museum.
The children welcome her as she returns each year with another Enrichment Program.
All can be discussed and customized to fit your needs and wishes.
